It probably goes without saying, but I’m gonna say it anyway – what we wear directly impacts how we feel about ourselves.

I mean stop and think for a sec… the last time you wore sweatpants (pajama pants _____ insert whatever here), a big loose 80s band t-shirt (hey, no judgement from me cause the 80s is still my favorite genre!) and hell, maybe didn’t even brush your teeth that morning how did you feel?

  • Lazy?
  • Like a slob?
  • Gross?
  • Big?
  • Icky?
  • Timid?

Of course I can’t speak for you, but for me I know that when I wear those pajama pants with an oversized Goonies shirt or a stretched out 2 sizes too big shirt all day I don’t exactly feel sexy or confident. But it goes further than that too… when I’m dressed like that I tend to struggle more with negative body image and being uncomfortable in my own skin.

Ouch… not exactly how I “should” feel considering I’m all about body positivity and loving the skin we’re in just as we are.

But hot damn when I put on a pair of jeggings (yea you read that correctly, I said jeggings! don’t knock ’em until you try ’em – seriously!) with a cute top in one of my favorite colors suddenly I feel a whole lot different!

  • Sexy
  • Sassy
  • Confident
  • Bold
  • Cute
  • Positive
  • Self-assured

Add some make-up and do my hair and that adds a whole nother layer of sexy and confidence to the mixture! 😉

And I’m not the only one who believes that clothes & color impact how we feel about ourselves. Mary over at Uncustomary, in her post The Surprising Benefits Of Wearing Your Favorite Color says:

…one unique way of combating low self esteem may just be found in your closet. From the major role that your outfits can play in regards to your mood to the psychology behind your favorite color, here’s what you need to know…
